The Bras Family Foundation

Maggie Bras - President

Maggie Bras jumped into the philanthropy arena with the formation in 2001 of The Robert & Maggie Bras and Family New Drug Development Program at Princess Margaret Hospital.  Robert and Maggie’s family’s involvement in raising funds for this program ensures the success with which it is operated, and its continued success.  The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation also plays a leadership role.  This program offers groundbreaking clinical trials, and is now considered one of the top new drug development programs in the world.

Philanthropy soon became Maggie’s focus on the death of her husband in 2002 and as a result The Bras Family Foundation came into being in 2004.  “Our foundation lends me the freedom to establish a mission statement which reflects the areas of my interest outside of new drug development.  While cancer research is very much my passion, establishing this foundation enables me to do more in the areas of cancer and also in the arts as well as abused women and children”.

Leah Lambrakis Bras - Director

Leah Lambrakis Bras is the daughter-in-law of Maggie Bras, a wife and mother. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science and a Master of Science Degree in Animal Nutrition, and has had a full time career in the field of animal nutrition for over 13 years.

In addition to her passion for nutrition and wellness, animals and animal health, Leah is actively involved in volunteer work in her community. She supports and volunteers for the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO), and is the organizing chair of the 5K Walk/Run in support of The Robert & Maggie Bras and Family New Drug Development Program at the Princess Margaret Hospital. Leah is also an active member of WFIM – Women in Food Industry Management. Her ongoing desire to help and her drive to become involved make her a great addition to the Board.
